A recent study by Marketing Week confirms the steady increase in social media use among businesses to drive more customers to their business and maintain a loyal following. The study, which was conducted across 80 countries, also proves that these efforts by businesses are not wasted- the amount of success with social media campaigns has increased and is predicted to continue to rise in 2012.

According to the findings, 52 percent of companies worldwide have included social media in their advertising and marketing plan. The incorporation of social media in the UK is very high, with businesses spending as much as a third of their marketing budget on that alone. As for the results of the campaigns, the rate of businesses gaining new customers via social media has increased 7 percent and is steadily growing.
