When you send out an e-mail to market your business, it’s naturally going to be interesting and exciting to you. After all, it is your business and how you spend the majority of your days. However, others have their own personal agendas and interests, that might not correlate strongly with yours. In other words, in order to have a successful e-mail marketing campaign, it is imperative that you send e-mails that are comprehendible and interesting to the general public, not just to you.
Put yourself in your audience’s shoes. If you receive an e-mail that doesn’t grab your attention or interest you, do you spend the time to read it through and soak in every detail? Probably not. The truth is, nobody is obliged to read your e-mails, so in order up your readership you must keep it simple and interesting. Use an attention-grabbing headline to generate interest and then keep the e-mail message simple, to-the-point, and on topic. Don’t overload readers with too much information or give them more than one call to action. Make sure your e-mails are interesting to people outside of your business and your readership surely will not falter.
